About
‘Lab for sustainable investment’
The European Centre for Corporate Engagement (ECCE) is a 'lab for sustainable investment'; a multidisciplinary research network, founded by researchers with established track records in the academic domain and in practice.
ECCE is an internationally oriented research consortium devoted to delivering top-ranked research in the fields of corporate engagement and sustainable finance.
ESG
ECCE helps practitioners and scholars understand how businesses and financial markets can promote sustainable development by considering Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) issues.
Research
The key idea behind our research is that ESG issues can enter into the mainstream when their 'X-factor' potential is understood, e.g., their ability to help mainstream investors and company managers achieve traditional financial objectives and outperform competitors.
ECCE seeks to achieve its objectives by using a novel three-dimensional research model: ‘Content, Dialogue, Engagement’ (CDE). With CDE, ECCE aims to disseminate effectively research of both academic stature and high practical relevance.
ECCE encourages an ongoing dialogue between all parties capable of contributing to sustainable development, including investors and analysts, corporate managers, consultants, governments, NGOs, and scholars.
Team
ECCE is a joint initiative of experts from Maastricht University and RSM Erasmus University in the Netherlands and enjoys the support of leading investment institutions. The centre consists of core and satellite research members.
The ECCE team has repeatedly received public endorsement from institutional asset managers, top business schools, and (non)-governmental organizations, and has attracted considerable media attention.
