What are we going to do in 2050?

Harry Hummels (Finance Department) has appeared in Trouw on 26 February 2014. The world population is growing from 7 to 9 billion people in 2050. With a current global workforce this means that mid-century there is an additional need for approximately 1 billion additional jobs. At the same time the second age machine and fierce competition, leading to greater efficiency, will lead to the disappearance of jobs or the transfer to low-income countries. So with less jobs and an increasing population the question comes up: What are all these people going to do?
